Disney and Marvel released a little-known
movie called “Avengers: Endgame.” Maybe you’ve heard of it. It made $1.2 billion dollars in its opening weekend. Which is insane. But part of the reason is because it’s the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney and Marvel kind of hosted these mega movie marathons across the nation. So the Deseret News decided to send me staff writer Herb Scribner to one of these marathons. And my coverage got enough buzz that even CNN wanted to chat about it. This was a lot more than just a movie marathon for you. In your blog you get into some really interesting and specific detail. You mentioned the smell
of popcorn, the smell of smelly feet. So what you’re about to see is the physical toll that this whole event had on my face. Here’s what I looked like before and
here’s what I looked like afterwards. So I’m here day 1, about to get this
marathon thing started. I’m gonna try and average two buckets of popcorn a day, three sodas. I’m seeing a predominantly male crowd here. You know it’s funny I use to actually work at this movie theater when I was in high school. So it’s kind of cool to come back and spend three straight days. My high school self would
be rolling his eyes right now. “Iron Man 1” is up next. I got my popcorn. I got my large soda. I am ready. It’s gonna be great. So yeah, this is still going strong. We’re
like two movies in. It’s starting to smell a little umm … feet-like. We’re three movies in. Nineteen still to go. Still enjoying this, so we’ll see how that goes? Umm … I just wanted to check out the dinner and it looks like it kind of … well there wasn’t a lot left. Popcorn and soda, that’s tonight’s dinner for me. We’re just getting out of the regular “Avengers” movie. I slept for like 30, 45 minutes in
there. I fell asleep, I think it’s, like Hawkeye. I think there’s something about
him that just makes me want to fall asleep. We’re gonna keep going. You know?
Whatever it takes, in the words of the Avengers. Good morning everyone.
It is 5:57 in the morning. I’m here, there are people sleeping out here, it’s not light out yet. Umm … I’m here with my buddy Thanos and we are chillin’. Just kind of got back from doing some of the harder work and by that I mean, brushing
my teeth and cleaning out my contacts. Slept through “Thor 2.” We just finished “Captain America 2.” One thing that’s hitting right now, is how much of a fan I’d become of Black Widow. It’s interesting it’s the back-to-back-to-back-to-back. She’s everywhere and she’s just such a … awesome character. Hawkeye still remains one of
my least favorites. Everyone just got done with “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” That means we were officially halfway through all this. I’m … I’m starting to feel it. We have about 31 hours left. My stomach is a mess right now. It’s a mix of popcorn, coffee, water and diet soda. This is gonna be the
hardest test coming up next. Because there’s a lot of good movies coming out. You have things like “Black Panther” or “Thor.” Those are the big ones. I’ll probably
set some alarms. I’m really tired right now. I’m gonna go see if there’s some food I can get. Interestingly, I have kinda gotten a cough in the last hours. So anyway, probably more water. That should … that’s probably what I’ll do. All right, what’s up everyone? Ahhh … Herb Scribner here, it
is 1:52 in the morning. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is currently going on right now. It’s not my favorite movie in the world. OK, this is probably pretty
mean I’m gonna say but I mean, Spider-Man’s dead. He died, so … not a lot of investment needed in there. So … and that’s an “Infinity War” spoiler. We’re closing in this is a … this is … what is that? That’s – two? I mean we have five? Six movies, six movies left. We are in the Endgame now. Hello again everybody. Herb Scribner here with the Deseret News. It is 4:47 in the morning. I have no business being awake. We just got done with “Thor: Ragnarok.”
Which ahh … I was actually awake for a lot of it. Then … reclined the chair and
that was the end for me. We have four movies away, four more until “Endgame.” We just finished up “Infinity War,” which means we’re officially on the road to “Endgame.” We’re in the Endgame. Here we go, we’re done, “Captain Marvel” is done, out of the way, 21 movies down, one more to go. Ahh … just got out of “Endgame” … umm … Just go see it. That’s all you got to do. Is just see it. To go watch it. That’s it. Thanks for watching everyone. I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I did.
